Earning Money 101

Welcome to Spiral Knights Earning Money 101!

Earning money from an MMORPG game is a very tiring and daunting task, Ragnarok Online is not an exemption, though with proper techniques, strategy and a lot of luck this can be done in no time, hence exclusive for Spiral Knight Members, I will share some ways to earn money fast with style!

General Rule:
Make a Merchant with Level 10 OC (Overcharge) and Level 10 Discount, this merchant will sell your loots and buy necessary NPC items such as potions, fly wings, etc. It's best to create two merchants - one for your main account, second will serve as vending merchant.

Earning Money with a Novice:
  1. Just outside Alberta, near the middle of the map are some ruins with some red mushrooms.
  2. Outside of Alberta, and one screen down is a map full of worm tails. In the bottom right of this map is a group of red mushrooms.
  3. Two maps left of Alberta is a map with Wolves. At the top and slightly to the left of that map are some ruins with red mushrooms.
Drops:
Alcohol - 10k - 15k each
Karvodailnirol  - 40 - 60k each
Red Bloods -  4 - 5k each

Top 13 Money Making Tips!
  1. Forger - Takes time to make and needs a lot of dedication and patience, in addition, competition is pretty tight at Talon RO at the moment, but selling a cheaper elemental weapon will definitely pave way to earn more money. Target forging elemental damascus, claymore and lance as these are the in-demand elemental weapons since the beginning of time.
    • Requirements:
      • Blacksmith with at least 95 DEX and LUK
      • Priest for buff (Blessing, Gloria
    •  Cons:
      • Gathering ingredients for forging is a lot of pain
      • Steels are expensive (ranging 3 to 6k)
      • Competition from Top 10 Blacksmiths
  2. Brewer - a counterpart of Blacksmith - Alchemist, with dedication of brewing slim white pots, you can sell this like hotcakes during WoE, a good way to earn money fast, furthermore  all ingredients are readily  available at NPC, though the only concern is the competition of Top 10 Brewer.
  3. Vending Meats and Fly wings - Though you’ll get little income from these, a zeny is still worth something . Everyone needs potions and fly wings to survive while leveling. Position your shop near the re-spawn area, make your price reasonable and players would buy from you. - Hardcore spot for vendors to sell fly wings fast - Abbey Level 3, a good thing to earn money whilst you are away or probably training / hunting.
  4. The Art of Buy and Sell - This skill is not easy as simply buying and selling, you need to be aware of the latest trend and prices in the market, what items are most in demand and easiest to sell, you need to check all vendors from time to time and take advantage of wrong vend or rush items, then resell it afterwards. !market channel should always be on and take advantage of people selling their goods at rush price, negotiating with other party for a cheaper price needs to be honed as well. Just a warning - don't be fooled with people buying an item at higher price if its being vend at cheaper price - especially if its too obvious as this might be a scam. Better lead  them to the Vendor's Shop if indeed they are truly buying it.
  5. Hunting - MMORPG is all about adventure! Hunting and looking for stuff is definitely one of its main feature, though this has becoming a daunting task for all, but its definitely worth it, hunting for gears or cards should be based on demand, and something that you can kill fast without spending too much potions and time. As of the moment, hunting for the following cards below are a great way to earn money fast (Raydric Card, Alligator Card, Easy Kills: Thara Frog Card, Creamy Card, Vitata Card) - We strongly suggest you hunt on a map that has lots of rare drops to maximize your time and hunting efficiency, e.g. Glast Heim Chilvary - possible loots - Raydric, Khalitzburg, Abysmal Card, Elunium, Oridecon, Blades of Darkness, Slotted Armors. Strategize your training and leveling map to take advantage of rare drops.
  6. Farming - opposed to hunting wherein everything is based on luck, training map and fun, this method is grinding for hours to generate staple income, an effective farmer should have a goal per hour based on loots, for e.g. earning 1 to 2 million per hour at Skellington, A good class to farm should be able to handle mob, or probably take advantage of their respective skills, e.g. Rouge - Auto Steal, AoE (Area of Effect) Skills to clear and gather loots fast on every given instance.
  7. Top Farming Spots:
    • Toy Factory - Piece of Cake - 1820 z with OC (Overcharge), 2k at Vending shop, Pearl 3720z with OC, 2 Carat Diamond - vend at 40 - 60k for SQI ingredients and forging, Chiqita's Jewelry Boxes - gives random headgear with a possible income of 1 to 2m range, if you don't feel lucky, sell it at 200 to 400k.
    • Kokomo Beach (Mobster) - Sapphire - 3720 z with OC, Ring [1] 900 - 1m, Coat [1] 200 - 500k, Mobster Card - 500k more or less
    • Moscovia Dungeon (Mavkas) - sell everything at NPC w/ OC! expensive drops - Witherless Rose, Crystal Mirror, vend Singing Plant at 100k (or make a phantom opera for fun?), sell Blue Herbs at buyers for 2k, Principles of Magic [1] 50 - 100k at shop. Link for Moscovia Entrance Quest
    • Bibalan (Izlude Dungeon) - expensive cards at your reach - Marc, Swordfish, Hydra Cards, whilst drops are good for different headgear quest and ingredients for SQI
    • Sleeper (ve_fild05(10)) - Great Nature - break it via Umbala Language / Sign Quest to sell more, Oridecon, and a lot more
    • Rachel Sanctuary - needs Rachel Sanctuary Quest for access, possible drops Ring [0] - sells 5 - 6m, Royal Jelly, Bloody Runes - 1k, White Masks, some great cards - Vanberk, Hodremlin, and slotted armors
    • Geffenia - requires Sign Quest for access. Hardcore farming area, with fully geared character, 4m per hour is possible, though my max was 3m as im a lazy farmer. NPC Food with OC: Silver Rings, Gold Rings, Diamond Rings, Mastela Fruits, Blue Potions, with a bunch of great ingredients.
    • Skellington at Niflheim - most drops NPC food, except for armors, great staple income of 1 to 2m per hour
    • and more.. will post for more sites to farm with
  8. Loots - pretty basic, gather all the loots and sell it with Overcharge!
  9. Over-upgrade -  with luck and courage, this will pave way for easy money! Whatever we do takes risk, and this is one of it, if you can successfully make a +7 Slotted Armor, its a win-win situation! Just a tip when breaking things: make sure its not laggy as delay part most of the time kills it, if you break consecutive items, try relogging or possibly upgrading another item to safe limit to reset the random generator in upgrading an item.
  10. Money Generating Quest - with different item generating quest available at Ragnarok Online, you can make profit out of it, a good quest to try is Spy Quest - it used to be repeatable in tRO, but I am not sure at the moment - will update once I test it out again. this quest will give you a "Jewelry Box" - you can sell this around 1 - 2m, and you can get random accessories, another good quest is Doha's Secret Order - a very long quest for New World Patch that will allow you to make Bradium Brooch [1], Dragon's Manteau [1] and much more.
  11. Mining and Jewel-crafting - requires Mining Quest, with pure luck and perseverance, hitting 20m in one instance is possible, this quest will allow you to mine which is very tedious but rewarding, once you got an access to craft an ore, you can enchant any armor with stats, and if you're lucky enough to make a +3 DEX Armor (e.g. Silk Robe [1] +3 DEX). You're an instant millionaire!
  12. Luna Kaleet food farming (for acolyte rebirth class only) - first I would like to thank Kayru for discovering this method as this can generate up  to 2m income per hour by taking advantage of Luna Kaleet, basically as what the title says you need the weapon Luna Kaleet and farm at Brasilis Dungeon - with this map and weapon combination it can drop a lot of food items that you can dispose at NPC for around 5k each, hence pick up all the loots and NPC everything with Overcharge!
  13. Gold, Treasure Box, Gokurin - still part of farming and hunting, though the only difference on this is higher drop rate than card rate and its not focus w/ specific farming grounds, basically the aim for this is to get the following items mentioned and NPC it with Overcharge
    • Gold - Selling Price 100,000 z with Overcharge 124,000 z - -Droped By Mi Gao, Leib Olmai. Am Mut, Mineral, Dokebi, Grand Peco and more
    • Treasure Box - Selling Price 150,000 z with Overcharge 184,000 z - Dropped By Acidus (Golden Color)
    • Gokurin - Selling Price 120,000 z with Overcharge 148,000 z - Dropped By Petite (Sky Petite)
  14. Leech Service - a booming business that never runs out of customer, this is focus to characters that can do well on certain maps and leech people for money, a good character would be a Star Gladiator (requires a lot of money to be fully geared and do well - location map - Odin, Continental Gorge, Thor) or High Priest (requires IC (Instant Cast) gears and enough damage to nuke everything with ME - location map - Abbey and Skellington) --- leech are being sold at 1.5m - 4m / hour (standard for Abbey is 2m), whilst leeching its also possible you can get a good drop and sell more for money.
    •  Tips for Leeching:
      • Be friendly and sincere, build a relationship with your client for popularity and more sale in the future!
      • For undead map, get a Zombie Prisoner Sandal to take advantage of more XP
      • Use a stop watch to clock the time accurately (stop time during death or getting supplies), and possibly extend up to 5 minutes if you keep on dying to show sincerity and build trust on your clients
      • Always ask for progress of the leecher for future asset in a sense if someone would ask you how long it will take for non trans to level up from 95 to 99, you would have an answer! - sounds more PRO and professional
Hope this guide helps! Noblesse Oblige.
